In the 1930’s, Silver Lake was home to Mack Sennett and Walt Disney’s film studios. Since the 1990s, Silver Lake has become the center of the alternative and indie rock scene in Los Angeles. In 2012 Forbes Magazine named Silver Lake “America’s Hippest Hipster Neighborhood”, and is home to some of the most celebrated modernist architecture in the country, including Richard Neutra’s VDL Research House and John Lautner’s Silvertop.
